Marimba Restaurant is situated in the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), on the historic Heerengracht, between the downtown area and the V&A Waterfront.
The restaurant was named after the marimba, a traditional wooden African xylophone, which today can be found on all 7 continents in traditional and modern forms. Taking the marimba them to the next level, the award winning décor celebrates the African origin and global energy of the marimba. Marimba shapes and images are reflected in stone, wood and steel furnishings and décor at their restaurant and cigar bar, with the main attraction being the large marimba suspended from the celling – said to be the largest in the world.
In conjunction with this vibey African décor, the restaurant focuses on offering cuisines from all over Africa with extra little touches and enhancements by the chef and his team. They offer African wild game and seafood dishes from the Cape and Mozambique, with home grown garden produce and Moroccan spices.
The Marimba Restaurant also offers live music performance 6 nights per week, to indulge their guest further in their African ambiance. The restaurant can also be hired for private events which can cater for 180 individuals when seated and 500 when standing.
