Cape Town Comedy Club is the brainchild of Kurt Schoonraad and started as “Jou Ma Se Comedy Club” in 2005. It is Cape Town’s only dedicated comedy club and its prime purpose is to give young, unrecognised comedians a chance in this rather tough and competitive industry.
The Cape Town Comedy Club is open from Wednesday to Saturday and boasts 4 different comedians each night from well-known comedians to local newcomers.
The Cape Town Comedy Club is located in the historic Pumphouse, at the V&A Waterfront. The building still has its original stone wall and a high ceiling all adding to the working harbour atmosphere. The large space of the building also allows Cape Town Comedy Club to boast a generous stage.
It is a dinner theatre. Their restaurant is open from 18:00 when the doors open, throughout the show, until the end of the show. They offer an A La Carte Menu and their kitchen is halaal-friendly (they do not serve any pork or cook with alcohol and their suppliers are also halaal). The Cape Town Comedy Club also offers vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.
The Cape Town Comedy Club also boasts a bar that is open till 02:00.
