Visit the Tygerberg Nature Reserve
In Totius Street in Welgemoed, you will find the Tygerberg Nature Reserve. Open in summer from 07h30 to 18h00 and sporting 7 km’s of hiking trails, 130 species of bird to identify, 50 mammals and 33 different types of butterfly. 500 species of flora have been recorded of which 12 are threatened with extinction.
Take the family to the Stodels Garden Centre
An oasis of indoor and outdoor spaces, with a play park for the little ones. Situated in Evertsdal Road and open daily from 08h00 to 17h00, Stodels is a firm favourite with locals for breakfast or lunch. Get ideas, be educated and leave inspired to make the best of your garden. Even with the strict water restrictions in Cape Town. Your kids will love the special Gardening with Kids holiday programme.
Go to the South African Air force Museum
Do you have aviation enthusiasts in your family? Then a visit to the Air Force Museum at Ysterplaat is a must. Walk through the history of aviation. Explore the crafts used in several wars, normally only pictured in history books.

Situated at the Ysterplaat Air Force Base, between N1 and Koeberg Road in Blaauwberg, it is open daily weekdays from 08h00 to 15h30 and 08h00 to 12h30 Saturdays. Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Taste Olive Oil and Wine at Hillcrest Estate
In the hills of Tygerberg, overlooking the quarry lies Hillcrest Estate. Known for their flagship wines, Olive orchards, picnics, and fishing and Open Air Cinema evenings.
Here, you can enjoy a blend of South African and Mediterranean cuisine, do Olive and Wine Tasting, order your picnic basket and savour the tastes of Cape Town. The views of Table Mountain and Robben Island from the Olive groves are photographic memories made to last.

Stop at the Rust en Vrede Art Gallery
The Rust en Vrede Art Gallery was built in the 1940’s and artwork of both established and emerging artists. Situated at 10 Wellington Road in Durbanville, the complex houses a clay museum, art studios and the Gallery Café.
Open Monday to Friday 09h00 to 17h00 and Saturday 09h00 to 13h00.

Saturdays from 09h00 to 16h00 you will find only locally and home-grown, produced, farmed, baked, preserved and crafted foods.
All fresh, unfrozen goodness and no harmful preservatives. Wood fired loaves of bread, home-made pasta, garden greens, Saldanha oysters, organic meats, saucy sauces, vineyard wines, artisan delicacies and everyday eats are tasted and taken home.
